Low Alcohol and Alcohol Free Options

As people become more health aware then the popularity of low alcohol and alcohol free drinks has grown proportionately. The quality, range and taste of alcohol free products has increased significantly over the past few years as more and more regular alcohol drinkers have come to expect a non-alcoholic option to many of their favourite drinks.

There are many reasons why people are opting for alcohol free drinks, these include:

Lifestyle

People have now come to realise that drinking in moderation can be part of a healthy lifestyle. However, many social occasions these days involve the consumption of alcohol and too much of a god thing can often be detrimental to our health and well being.
By having the option of alcohol free wines and beers people can still enjoy their social lives without having to worry about exceeding their safe drinking limits.

Alcohol is also very high in calories and choosing a low alcohol or non-alcoholic alternative can help people who are watching their figures. It’s a little known fact, but many popular non-alcoholic wines contain less calories than traditional fruit juices.

Driving

As drinking and driving has become less socially acceptable, not to mention irresponsible, people often prefer a non-alcoholic version of their favourite drink to the usual safe option of soft drinks or fruit juice. While a cool glass of cola or orange juice can be refreshing, after the second or third glass it can become a less pleasant.

Pregnancy

The harm done to unborn children by excessive alcohol consumption is quite widely accepted nowadays. Although an occasional tipple is OK, it is often a safe bet for expectant mothers to avoid or reduce their alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Opting for alcohol free beers and wines means that there is one less thing to worry about.

Medication

With many forms of medicine it often advised that alcohol be avoided wherever possible. The effectiveness of some medicinal products can be severely impeded by the presence of alcohol in the system.

Religions

Some religions forbid the use of alcohol and some allow only moderate consumption. Providing your guests with the option of non-alcoholic drinks is a great way to avoid any social embarrassment at events or parties.

Low Alcohol or Alcohol Free?

  • Alcohol free drinks are those which contain less than 0.05% alcohol;
  • De-Alcoholised drinks contain less than 0.5% alcohol;
  • Low Alcohol contains between 0.5% an 1.2% alcohol;
  • Non-Alcoholic drinks contain virtually 0% alcohol.
